SESSION 7 - How to be a good citizen
Today is the last class of this learning situation. That's why the children will be informed that they have completed all the tasks assigned by the European Commission and that the final challenge will be set by the citizens.
Message from the European Commission:
Congratulations! We must tell you that all members of the European Commission are very proud and grateful for the work you have done. We believe that you are now fully qualified to be part of our team. However, citizens also want to make sure that, in addition to having a lot of knowledge about our planet, you are also good citizens.
That is why we have created a final activity that, when you complete it, you will have met all the requirements to be part of our commission. We have entrusted your teacher with the task of explaining the activity to you.
Good luck! We are confident that you will succeed.
The objetives to work on this session are:
- 1.1. Implement norms of citizen coexistence,
- 1.3. Know the role of the human being in the environment
In the first part of the session, the teacher will divide the class and explain the activity as well as the Bee-Boots functioning in about 15 minutes. Then, students will have to start the exercise which will last until the end of the hour.
ACTIVITY
We will divide the class in five groups of five, we will make a map that represent a city, with signals, street, etc... Each signal will represent a question, when they reach them they will have to answer related to how to be a good citizen, to next step they will have to answer correctly.
To move through this representation of the city we will use the Bee-Boots, with them they will have to follow the path given, going through every signals.
This questions are some that we are going to use in the map of the city:
1. What does it mean to be a good friend to others in your school or neighborhood?
2. How can you show kindness and help someone who is feeling sad or lonely?
3. Why is it important to listen to your teachers and follow school rules?
4. How can you take care of the environment by reducing waste and recycling?
5. What does it mean to be respectful to adults and your peers?
6. How can you be a good helper at home and contribute to your family?
7. Why is it important to share and take turns with your friends?
8. What are some ways you can be responsible for your belongings and keep your living space tidy?
9. How can you include others who may feel left out during playtime or activities?
10. Why is it important to tell the truth and be honest in your words and actions?
11. How can you be a good team player when working on a group project or playing a game?
12. What does it mean to be a good listener, and why is it important in building strong friendships?
13. How can you show empathy and understanding towards others who may be different from you?
14. Why should you be careful with your words and avoid saying hurtful things to others?
15. How can you contribute to a positive and friendly atmosphere in your school and community?
